The European Union Operator Algebras Network comprises a group of universities and research institutes across seven European countries that have formed an alliance for the purposes of cooperation and collaboration in research in the theory of operator algebras, quantum spaces and noncommutative geometry.
The Network funds postdoctoral positions (von Neumann fellowships), inter-university staff visits and conferences. The first of these conferences was held in Cork in July, 1995. The most recent conferences in Cork in this area were titled Noncommutative Geometry and Operator Algebras, held in May 2003, and Operator Algebras and Applications, held in June 2005.
The Irish node of this network comprises University College Cork and the Dublin Institute of Advanced Studies. The coordinator for this node is Prof. Gerard J Murphy of University College Cork.
