Nonideal relay

The nonideal relay (with the threshold values $\alpha <\beta $) is the simplest hysteretic transducer. This transducer is denoted by ${R}_{\alpha,\beta}$. Its output $y(t)$ can take one of two values $0$ or $1$: at any moment the relay is either `switched off' or `switched on'.

This nonlinearity is usually illustrated by the picture shown in Figure 3.1
