Pendulum in magnetic field

As an illustration we consider the forced oscillation of an iron pendulum in a magnetic field, Figure 12.

Such oscillators are common in nature and in industry: a satellite orbiting the Earth, swings in a playground (in both cases because the Earth is a huge magnet), and numerous examples in microelectronics etc.
