General Information
I am an Associate Professor in the Mathematics
Department of University College Cork.
My research is in algebraic coding theory. Error correcting codes
are used to remove the effects of noise in communications channels such
as satellite links, mobile telephones, and compact discs. My current interests
are in the development of efficient decoding algorithms for alternant codes
over Galois rings and in the theory of quasicyclic codes.
I have also worked on the applications of coding theory to fault tolerant
computing, where the aim is to protect numerical computations against errors
induced by transient faults in the hardware. |
